Summary

The first in-person meeting of the ACCESS Project consortium partners took place in Leipzig from 7 to 10 February 2022. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, the event successfully gathered over 30 participants, including board members, coordinators, doctoral students, and other key figures involved in the project’s implementation. The meeting was conducted in a blended format, allowing those unable to travel to Leipzig to participate online.

During the four-day event, discussions focused on strategies and activities aimed at enhancing the employability of African graduates within the project’s scope. Within the scope of the project, ACCESS has developed sustainable solutions to address the rising issue of graduate unemployment in Africa, based on its four main pillars.

Notable attendees included Mr. Chiheb Chaouch, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Tunisian Embassy in Germany, and a representative of the Nigerian Ambassador in Germany. Subsequent sessions took place in various collaborating departments of Leipzig University, including the Sports Science Faculty, Geography Department, African Studies Institute, and the Small Enterprises Promotion and Training Competence Center at the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences.
