AGEA is glad to announce the call for registrations and submissions of business ideas for the AGEA Business Idea Competition 2023. The competition is accepting registrations and entries from interested and eligible participants until 31 May 2023.
In cooperation with ACCESS, the Business Idea Competition 2023 is a platform to unearth and support innovative business start-up ideas from academic/scientific research conducted at African universities and research institutions. This is an opportunity for academia and scientific staff in African higher education institutions to express their entrepreneurial abilities and test the business potential in their research results.
We invite participation from Bachelor, Master and PhD students at universities, research institutions, and other African HEIs. Lecturers, professors, and other academic/scientific staff could be part of the team to provide guidance but not main leads. The participation of women is highly encouraged either as individuals or in teams. Participants can be individuals or teams of up to six.
This year’s Competition focuses on “Smart Green Business” ideas that propose sustainable and digital solutions to challenges that satisfy market needs, especially in Africa. The competition seeks ideas that address various ways to use digitalisation to achieve a greener future. We encourage university students to develop innovative ideas for sustainable and smart businesses that positively impact the environment while being economically promising. Ideas do not necessarily have to be limited to the African market or needs but must come from Africa.
Winners will be sponsored to participate in a five-day study tour in Germany, between 31 August – 04 September 2023. They will also receive post-competition training and support through our AGEA Start-up Class for knowledge transfer and coaching on their business ideas.
